My apparel career showed me how many people stand behind every finished garment. That wider picture mattered to me.

From 2004 to 2006, I served on the board of the Garment Industry Development Corporation, a New York consortium representing labor organizations, the textile and apparel industries, and government stakeholders.

It was a chance to bring a commercial perspective into a conversation that crossed industry boundaries—and to stay connected to the people behind the work.
